Football Players

There a number of players who made a name for themselves of the Manchester United however there are some remembered more than others. The following players are remembered as legends for both their football skills and in some cases their personalities both on and off the pitch. These guys have all entered the Manu history books for what they brought to the game at this prestige club.
Let's begin with the talented and short-tempered Eric Cantona who signed for Manchester United in November 1992 in a £1.2m transfer deal. He settled quickly into the United team, and he transformed United's season as they went onto win the inaugural Premier league by ten clear points. He also became the first player to win consecutive titles with different teams. It was not only his goal scoring that attracted so much attention, but his creative play that presented so many other goal scoring opportunities for the team. He was also remembered for the kick he launched at a fan which earned him an 8 month ban from the game. Cantona was made the Manchester United captain at the beginning of the 1996-97 season, which saw United again claim the Premier League title, he had now won four titles in five years with United, and two FA Cups.
George Best joined Manu at just 17 where his goal scoring ability and on-the-ball skills made him a favourite with the fans and one of the very first celebrity footballers. His greatest years were between 1966 and 1969 when he outplayed all opposition and Manchester Utd was a real powerhouse. Unfortunately Best was a victim to drink which he struggled with for the rest of his days, he will always be remembered for what he did on the pitch and is often referred to as the best footballer in the world.
He hasn't retired from Manchester United yet and still plays regularly but Ryan Giggs certainly deserves to be on the wall of fame. Giggs made his debut in 1991 and went on to help them win the treble - Premier league, F.A Cup and the Champions League. He scored the winning goal in the Champions league final in 2008 crowning a remarkable season and has since won the BBC Sports Personality of the year.
There are many players we could mention in this article because Manu has done and continues to produce some of the best players in the world. It's having players like theses that make Old Trafford a difficult place to come and get points. There are a number of hotels near old Trafford so be sure to catch a game.
